Engine of the Forklift - the forklift truck is designed with a power source at the rear of the equipment. Different kinds of forklift truck have different kinds of engine that need varying power sources. For example, a lift truck with an IC engine could have as its power source any of the following: LP gas, CNG gas, gasoline or diesel. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.



Frame of The Truck - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most important of all the forklift components. This forms the core of the equipment. All other components of a forklift are connected to the base, like the mast, wheels, axles counterweight and overhead guard. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks can be part of the frame assembly too.



Counterweight Forklift Components - While carrying heavy cargo, the counterweight enables the equipment to be balanced. This particular part is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and can function as part of the counterweight.



The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Forklifts would sometimes have closed cabs whilst others will be open to the air. There are really many components located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential parts like for instance the operator controls, steering wheel, pedals, seats, switches and levers. The dashboard has operator readouts.
