During the year 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case founded Case within Racine. He began building threshing machinery. The business later gained international recognition as the initial manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. Eventually, the business grew to become the world's biggest manufacturers of steam engines.
Case had established themselves in the construction equipment business by 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building machinery including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction machinery business through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top maker of medium-sized to light-sized construction equipment.
In 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for advertising some of the globe's top brands of agricultural and construction machines.
