Kinds of Forklifts
Forklifts are used to lift and move heavy loads, usually in warehouses and construction sites. They are commonly found in material handling and other manufacturing industries. There are various kinds of forklifts used for various sorts of applications.
The biggest difference between forklifts is the way they are powered. Some are electric powered and several use internal combustion motors. For lifting heavy loads while maintaining low operating expenses, electric forklifts are usually the best choice. Electric forklifts are usually found in indoor work environments. For outdoor applications, internal combustion forklifts are generally recommended.
A fork truck, motorized drive and manual drive are the three types of forklifts. Fork trucks are motorized and have cabs and backup alarms. Motorized drive forklifts usually have a protected seat for the operator. Manual drive forklifts are manually powered.
Some forklifts are counterbalanced to prevent tipping over. Other safety features comprise handrails or turntables. Specialty forklifts are available for certain uses. For instance, narrow aisle forklifts are designed to work within really tight spaces. Rough-terrain forklifts are very effective on uneven and rocky surfaces.
